Jules Collier is the Founder and co-owner of Misce Botanicals (pronounced Me-shay deriving from the Latin ‘to mix’). A qualified Aromatherapist of 20 years with a background in cosmeceuticals, Jules draws on her experience working with essential oils and plant extracts to formulate ‘clean’, luxury products for men, women and the home.
Originally from the UK, Jules followed a successful career in retail fashion and home interiors, before joining a renowned skin health clinic. Here, through her extensive training, she gained knowledge of skin health and the latest innovations in beauty science. It was at this time the importance of using only high quality, tried and tested ingredients in skincare became clear. Taking a break, after the birth of her son, Jules went on to qualify as an aromatherapist, beginning her love affair with essential oils, natural remedies and fragrance.
In 2009, Jules emigrated with her family to the West Coast of New Zealand. Continuing with her aromatherapy business, she discovered an abundance of native New Zealand plant extracts and began incorporating them into her essential oil blends for clients. These bespoke blends were hugely popular, resulting in her clients requesting other aromatherapy products that they could use in their home, this led to the first ‘Misce’ home fragrance in 2017.
It was at this time; a good friend of Jules was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer. Following her mastectomy and subsequent chemo and radiotherapy treatments, her friend sought a moisturising cream to help heal post treatment wounds and dry skin. The options were limited, so Jules developed a bespoke cream to help and so began her quest to produce only natural, high quality skincare for a wide range of skin concerns.
After three years, following extensive research, formulating and human trials, Misce Skincare was born, launching its’ range of luxury products for men and women in 2020.
Misce’s mission is to provide people with high quality, effective, clean products for their skin and environment. They strongly believe that people should have access to the full list of ingredients that go into all products, giving them a more informed choice before they buy. Misce only collaborate with suppliers that are in line with their core beliefs of providing traceable, ethically sourced ingredients and are passionate about supporting New Zealand business.
